Acupuncture is just one therapeutic aspect of a broader study called Oriental Medicine or Eastern Medicine. Various practitioners can integrated traditional acupuncture into their practice including medical physicians, chiropractors, ayurevedic practitioners and doctors or oriental medicine. Acupuncture is useful for a wide range of conditions including musculoskeletal, hormonal, digestive, nervous system and others. It has also shown promise in treating symptoms associated with cancer, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and other chronic conditions.

Traditionally acupuncture uses needles to stimulate points on the meridian channels in order to balance the system. In some cases moxibustion (a traditional herb that is burned at the end of the needle) is used to intensify the treatment. But if you have a fear of needles don’t fret. There are other ways to treat meridians including acupressure, on skin moxibustion and herbs.

Dr. Dylan Beamer

was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest in Portland, Oregon. After chiropractic school and nearly 35 years in the Northwest he decided to follow his family to Santa Fe to put down roots in a smaller and community focused city that allows for ample outdoor recreation.

Dr. Beamer came to chiropractic, like so many, because he was in pain. Constant, daily low back pain had become normal life for him and the traditional medical community had little to offer besides drugs. “Every time I went to the chiropractor I was fascinated by what they were doing. I always asked tons of questions about schooling and why they were doing the adjustments they chose. Eventually I decided to go back to school to help other people.”

Dr. Beamer has always been interested in a holistic model of care and recognizes the deep connections between each of the body systems. “Without looking at the whole, you are simply managing symptoms. Eventually most people want to know why they feel the way they do and how to fix it, that’s where chiropractic shines.”

When not caring for patients Dr. Beamer can be found in and around the forests and rivers of New Mexico with his dog Berlin. He is currently exploring the freedom of packrafting and enjoying the amazing rock formations of the Southwest.
